Sometimes, it all just builds up until it has to come out all at once.

To This Day…

I’ve grown up with Disney and cartoons my entire life. I have never once watched The Lion King without a river of tears. Or Tarzan. Or The Fox and the Hound… Pretty much every Disney movie ever.

As a child I always wanted to be an animator for Disney. My art portfolio is filled to the brim with drawings of Disney characters and scenes, and drawings of similar style. To this day I have a difficult time drawing anything but Disney inspired art. This October I bought The Little Mermaid the very day it came out of the Disney Vault and watched it and sang and cried along with Ariel, arguably my favorite Disney Princess.

Cartoons were also a part of my childhood. Though I spent most of my time playing with toys and reading books there were a few cartoons I loved. Courage the Cowardly Dog for example holds a dear spot in my heart as scarier than any horror movie I’ve ever seen. I used to spend my weekends at my grandmothers and late at night I would go down into her basement and watch Courage the Cowardly Dog in the dark alone. I’ve never really been sure why I did this, it seems like a pretty strange thing to do for a child right? I don’t know, but ever since I have always looked upon those nights as fond memories.

Today I still watch cartoons. Unashamed I proclaim my love for the 90’s Nickelodeon Cartoons, I was  and am so excited that Teen Nick has began to play reruns every night. Unashamed I proclaim my love for some of the newer cartoons like my favorite: Adventure Time.

Although watching cartoons may not be the most physically or mentally rigorous activity it still holds its worth in teaching lessons of fun and silliness, spontaneity and even morals. For a great deal of my life I based my life’s ambitions on ideas I had learned from Disney, and I do not know a single soul who does not have any sort of affection towards Disney.

The following link leads to a video I made of myself drawing Simba for a Spanish project if any readers are interested in viewing the progress I’ve made since childhood on the road to Disney animation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73EbUD84VM0
